Hi everyone, these swimming photos were shot last July at the Modern Pentathlon World Cup Final in London. The racing is all over in 4 heats of 200m, so I went looking for different types of shots across the racing and warm-ups to make the story more interesting (while being restricted to 2 official shooting spots).
I have several events to shoot this year, so I'm keen to get feedback on what works, and what I could do better/different...
pdjr,
i have never shot pool sports, so... grain of salt here,
but these are very, very nice.
very artistic. and a very nice eye.
thanks for sharing.

Amzing mixture of stuff. Love the black and white contrast -- and the lanes in number two are awesome. However, I can't remember the last time I saw a swimming shot as cool as the last. Amazing timing Paul.
Hi everyone, thanks for your positive feedback! I'll work hard to try and get something better/different from this years events and then share them for comment!

Very nice shots. The isolated shots of individuals are great, but #2 is a very unique perspective. I like it. The tone gives a very difference sense of the event.
Paul, these are BAR NONE the best shots I've seen in a long time, maybe ever. The swimming I shoot has virtually no windows, and the fluorescent lights keep it just on the helpful side of dim.
The combination of your skill and the provided lighting have made for some inspirational shots. Thanks for sharing.
Other than the buy/sell forum, this is my first post on FM. My son and daughter both swim competitively so I have pretty much used their swimming to teach me photography over the past few years. I have little to add to the above comments except that as most know, indoor swimming presents several unique challenges. The lighting is usually terrible and can change several times from wall to wall. Hard to get a "clean" background and difficult many times just to get a decent shooting position near the pool. You seem to have overcome all those obstacles in your posted shots. I especially like the other than standard action shots here. There are always many interesting environment and non action shots to be had. One of these days I hope to get up the nerve to post some of mine. And, by the way, my daughter's swim team in Missouri has a young man from UK swimming on it. A fine representative of the UK, both in the water and classroom.
