Andre is on the mark. I've also been told that "teton" means tit in French.
There are three dominant peaks thrusting straight up from the (east side) Jackson Hole (valley). Early French trappers named them Le Gran trois teton (pardon my spelling, Andre). No doubt the trappers had been in the woods for quite some time. From that has come the present name of the small-but-dramatic mountain range and the national park.
