An interesting composition, Tim. Symmetry without being symmetrical (?). I like this.
I was raised 30 miles from Huntington Beach, and it was the favorite with me and my buddies when we bought our first cars at age 16. Way back then, everything about the pier was wood (except the nails ). Alas, my interest in photography came many years later. At age 16, and with my own car, my interests had mostly to do with girls and nighttime parking places .

A different angle on this shot Tim, it works well.

I like it. I agree with the Charlie on the symmetry thing.

Deny the center!

I find all the damn footprints distracting. Tim you know I'm kidding hehe... Love the selective color as well as the off symmetry comp.

The perspective and positioning of the camera confer visual impact and good depth. This is very likeable.

I am less partial with the color remaining in the shot, not because of the color per se, but because the water is brownish on the right, and blueish on the left. My eye keeps checking this and comparing colors instead of staying with the pier.

This is an out of the normal composition for this type of shot, and I really like it. I also think your selective desaturation works well here, too. For me, it looks intriguing and classy; not cheesy, which is the bain of selective color.
Nice job!
