Hi,

I want to know where do you guys buy a A3 size cardboard [the one with different colors]background? I am thinking about buying them from an ART Store or maybe staples... any cheaper suggestions.

thanks.

You may have difficulty finding colored cardboard. Colored "construction paper" is more widely available. I found this source on-line for in A3 / 12x18 size by searching for "construction paper"

http://www.amazon.com/SunWorks-Construction-inches-Package-Assorted/dp/B002LARR8A/ref=sr_1_12?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1326893053&sr=1-12

You'd need to mount it on foam core or other board yourself but having the ability to curve it into sweep might also be advantageous. Another option you might consider is fabric stretched on a frame or over a piece of foam core. I found 24 x 36 sheets of foam core recently at Target for $3.

If you don't mind cutting it yourself you can find mat board at AC Moore. It comes in sheets of 40x30 inches for around $8, in various colors.

Michael's has mat board but they don't sell it to the public, they only use it for framing orders.

If you are talking about posterboard for use as a curved background and back drop for small products and such, then I just scout around for the best prices locally. Generally things at Staples aren’t a good deal unless they are on special. I have used Michaels, Wallmart, Staples and art supply stores.

Mostly I use seamless paper. The narrowest rolls of Savage seamless paper, which is 22 inches wide, and are only $15 per roll. Most posterboard is 22 x 28 inches. I find 22 inches too narrow for all but the smallest products, so I most often buy 107 inch rolls and cut them down to 35 inches and 72 inches, using the 35 inch cut for small products. They also come in 53 inch rolls, which are $25 a roll.

It doesn’t take long to build up a sufficiently large color selection.

any cardboard the thickness of 4 regular business cards stack together., I guess it's a posterboard. For its purpose I just need a plain board were you can change colors just like what cgardner suggested.

I'll take a not of all these:

Posterboard
Savage Seamless paper
Constructions paper
Mat

What else?

I guess I have to cut them myself. I will visit my nearest Home Depot or Lowes, you guys ever tried Pearl ART Store?

Thanks guys...

If you have a Hobby Lobby in your area they sell matte board for framing at half price ( $4.00 average) every 2 weeks. Available in lots of colors and non reflective for most colors. Around 36" x 32"
