Humpback whale in Alaska's Prince William Sound.
There are several above-surface behaviors of these giant marine mammals. Lobtailing and tail slap are two of them.
Mostly a tail lob is preparation for a tail slap. In this case, there was no slap. Tomorrow I'll post a tail slap.
