| p.1 #1 · Owl Photo Op and Contest |
I'm not sure if it's okay to post information regarding contests, so if not...please delete this topic. Otherwise, I'll give you the skinny...
The 2012 International Owl Festival will be held this year on March 2-4 in Houston, MN. There are still a few openings for photographing owls in an outdoor, natural setting. (11am time slot only.) This year, the species list are as follows:
Eastern Screech Owls (Rust and gray phase)
Snowy (Adult Female)
Please note, the above list is subject to change based on the health of the owls, weather conditions, etc.
Besides the owl photo op, the Houston, MN Nature Center is also hosting an owl photography contest. Here's the skinny on the contest:
We’re looking for awesome owl photos for our 2012 International Festival of Owls photography contest! This year the contest is switching to digital entries, so you don’t even have to leave home to enter (assuming you already have that great owl shot on your computer.) There will only be a single category (owls), and the contest is open only to amateur photographers. The entry fee is $5/photo, with a maximum of three entries per person. Entries and payment must be received by February 15, 2012 at 11:59 PM. Each entry should be sent as a separate email to email@example.com, and should be 300 dpi at 8"x10". Please include your name, address, phone number, email address, and photo title in the body of the email.
Judges will pick the top 10 finalist photos to be made into 8x10 prints, matted, and displayed at the Houston Nature Center during the International Festival of Owls March 2-4, 2012. The public will vote from the top 10 finalists to determine the winners during the Festival.
First prize: $100, 2nd prize: $25, 3rd prize: $15. Please note that bank transfer fees will be deducted from the cash award if the money must be transferred to a foreign bank account.
Use the Festival registration form (either printed or online) at www.festivalofowls.com/registration.htm to pay your entry fee, and good luck!
