p.1 #1 · Canon G1 X test shots with raw @ ISO 12.800

DIGITAL FOTO has some new tests shots with a production-level Canon G1 X up:

http://digitalfotoonline.dk/Nyheder/verdenspremiere-se-vores-testskud-med-canon-g1-x

You can check jpeg at ISO 100, 1600 and 12.800 and a raw shot @ 12.800 converted with Canons own Digital Photo Professional.

We are talking about some quick shots of flowers but it is obviously still possible to evaluate sharpness, detail and noise. All test samples are done with P program mode with the camera mounted on a tripod.

AFAIK these are the first shot with raw. You can send me a PM for further details.

Compared to ISO 100, there is significant detail lost from the ISO 12800 RAW shot after it was processed in DPP

What I meant to say was that the NR settings used in DPP were too strong. I prefer to see equal (if not zero) and better NR from ACR applied on different images used in comparisons.

Wow... That is impressive!

I noticed the loss of detail at 12,800 as well, but nevertheless that is really amazing to see results like this from a P&S!

Canon Digic 5 and this new little sensor has amazing potential.

G1X is nothing more than proof-of-concept transitional vehicle for up coming mirrorless ILC system.

Well imagine how the 1D X will go then with it's much larger pixels and dual digic V!

Results look good. Compared to the fact ISO 800 on G12 was probably no better than ISO 12800 on G1X this is a huge improvement.

Honestly, if they make the AF good enough and the lens is up to the task...It looks like a great little camera with awesome possibilities.

I wonder if they could make the same kind of lens with some sort of new designed bayonet. I could see a 24-105 very compact for a camera like this.

I see a little loss of detail in the rose petal veining between ISO 100 and 1600 but thats it. Very impressive for a P&S! I really don't like using my 5Ds above ISO 1600 and don't like using my G10 above ISO 200.

I don't know anything about this proof-of-concept nonsense but as an upgrade for my G10 this one is looking fantastic. If the lens stands up to landscape resolution without a lot of flare or CA then I'm sold.

So far these samples and the photo of a woman on another thread are pretty impressive.
