Great looking ant and very nice shot Dave. On a side note, wonder if it would be worth darken that leaf a bit? The brightness tends to grabs my eye a little

Thanks guys for the compliments. I also noticed that the black speak under the stem is another ant. Just to give you an idea of the size of the bullet ant.

Bandi, totally agree. I'll see what I can do to darken that up.

Thanks
Dave

Nice shot Dave, wow so how big are they if that's another ant under the stem ?

I'd crop the leaf out personally.

Gmazza - I am not sure if they are as painful as the ones in Paraguay. I know they are all the same species. When I was in Peru we slept (hammocks and tents) in an area were there were hundreds (nest was close) and no one had any issues. One of the guys with was bitten by one before and had some pain, nausea for about 24 hours. He said that different populations in different countries have different amounts of pain associated with them. Don't quote me, but I want to say he said Argentina produces a pretty painful one.

Cadman342001 - This was approx 3cm. I'll crop and see what it looks like.

Thanks guys.

Nice catch! My only suggestion would have been to move the subject more left in the frame
