It was before the $1099 deal!
I would love to get an 85L but the slow focus complaints have put me off
I wonder if early next year we will see the prices to back up again, or if canon is pricing down to increase sales longer term.
This would probably mean we will be seeing the newer versions of the same lenses. If this is true, then these prices may be likely to stay for a while. It remains to be seen.

A couple of them but they have EVERYTHING on sale, even newish lenses and version 2’s
I still think they are trying to make up lost ground and they will go back up once the books are finalized.
Fom another perspective, it's annoying, I have three L lenses to sell, but now I need to wait and see what happens... 24 ii,35,135

No. You will not.
Unless you've only went to a store site once this year or only came to the forum just today. Just about every retailer has had just about every lens on fire sale.
With your logic, the just released 70-200 2.8 is 2, which was not 4 months ago 2500, recently has been sub 2k, and currently 2074, is due for replacement.
The entire line of efs lenses has been on sale including the 17-55.
Just about every L lenses has been as well. Not to mention if you go to the canon store every refurb has been at clean out prices.
If it was only the 24-70, 35 L, and maybe a few other "oldish" lenses, I could see it, but when every single lens is on sale...no. No I can't.
