I have the chance to purchase a 5D2 for $1,400 as a backup to a 1Ds2 (I shoot almost entirely weddings). With the 5D3 vaporiously on the horizon, is it safe to think that the 5D2 will hold its value at least around $1,400 used for a while?
That is a pretty darned good price. If/when a 5DIII is released, I suspect stock will be low for many months and the MSRP will be a good bit higher than the Mark II when it released. I wouldn't hesitate to get it for your application. You might even end up making it your primary body instead of your 1Ds II
What's safe is to think that the 5d2 will continue to take awesome pictures for you even after the 5d3 is released. Obviously you're aware of that since you're not using the latest 1ds model
