- D3 is no pro body. Itīs "semipro". Nikons "pros" are 3Ds (Iso) and 3Dx (resolution).
With a 3Ds "TM" would not have had a problem with his "pro" 28-70/70-200 f2.8 zooms.
I started a few years ago carrying my 50 1.8 ais for the same reason. It quickly became a go-to lens for low light. It's tough to focus manually in dim light but the G will replace it. Nice stuff, TrenchMonk.
Juan Francisco made the same comment I'm about to: The D3 should get equal credit with the glass in the above shots! I'm now into both Canon and Nikon villages, including the D3 and D3s. With the D3s in a scene like the above, if the people can see each other, the D3s sees the room just like the people do almost regardless of the glass on the cam! And along with amazing retention of color fidelity, too!
While my Canon 1D4 is a considerable step up from anything they've done before, it will be VERY interesting to see if the new 'x' model comes alongside, or passes, the D3s.
And, yes TRENCHMONKEY, you got some precious lifetime moments of a precious group of people in support of a friend in medical crisis. It is events like this that still make America different from so much chaos and decay that now plagues so much of the planet-----and even here.

It's better than the price would suggest, that is for sure. Nice shots. Now how about adding an 85 1.4G to your lineup?
Hey, Josh...thanks! I already use the Rokinon 85 f1.4 for portraits, no need for AF at that FL for me.

Beautiful, Will! Hope your wife's coworker recovers nicely with very little aftereffects.
Appreciate that, Laura. The gal in the 1st shot is his wife, she got up and thanked everyone...
there wasn't dry eye in the house. Friends coming together like this is pretty powerful medicine.

Nice work Will (what else would we expect?) Yu Da Guy!
I've been debating selling my D & getting the new G. My D is so sharp though that I hesitate to make the move.
Thank you, Leon...I'd probably shoot it 'til it dies then. Use the $$ to drink good beer.

Sure, Ralph, thanks for letting us know the D3 is no pro body.
I guess the D3 is now worthless... I'll go tell my D300 that it's not a pro camera either, and God help all those poor deluded souls who are making a living with D3's and not realizing how their clients laugh at them for using a "no pro body"...

Nice ... ISO 6400, f/2 and 1/100 .. that's scary dark and yet, the photos you posted don't show any signs of underexposure. Wow
Thanks, Anil...spot metering is key and I go against the grain re: "exposing to the right" and typically
use -1/3 EC and AWB at ISO6400. I like the color sat. and extraneous BG lights don't appear as harsh.
Keep in mind I'm a SOOC Jpeg shooter, this gallery was up and running during my 1st beer upon arriving home.
