hi,

in october I sent my 400 f/2.8 IS to canon cps for a calibration and tune-up. i just noticed it no longer has a date code.

should i be concerned when selling?

If you sent it to the Virginia location I would say be very worried. They may have dropped your lens and fixed it or sent you the wrong lens. I would call/text/email to find out what happened...

Probably they swopped out the black mask at the rear of the lens for some reason - new ones won't have date codes on them, will they?

unfortunately so many people put too much emphasis on date codes.

so depending on your price, it may affect some buyer's decisions....

Its pretty common to see date codes disappear after service. Save your original purchase records if you want to establish the date.
