I saw this today and it got me thinking about one more expense for all of us. Now that Adobe will not allow those of us to upgrade more then one version. Many of us will be forced to purchase the full version when NIkon release there new bodies.

You are not forced to do anything. There are many raw converters.

I have found that Adobe really does not care that much about what their customers think when it comes to upgrading.

I am not sure what the deal here is. Lightroom cost me $99 this year (Full version Non-student). I know full retail is more but you see it on sale all the time. For someone thinking about a new D4, which will be about $6K, what is another $100 - $150. I am just saying................

?? What? I guess you DON"T know that the incremental updates (those for accomodating new camera models) are FREE. The sky isn't falling here.

BTW...it's Than not then and it's Their not there. Its releases not release.

No it's not.
1. This applies to the major releases, not the incremental releases (for new cameras).
2. You don't have to buy the entire CS suite.
3. I do most of my work in Lightroom (much less expensive).
4. For what this software can do...it's still a bargain.

I've been using PS professionally since day one. I've tried all the new editing software when it comes out and there isn't one I would use, other than Lightroom, which is really a derivative of PS.

I guess you did not realize the CS5 has made ther last incremental upgrade to support new cameras. Going forward there will be a new version CS6. Many of us will not be able to upgrade with the usual upgrade price as adobe has gotten rid of that option if you are more then 1 version away. This is not just for the CS suite. It is for photoshop as well as Lightroom. Just because Lightroom is great for you does not mean anything to those who prefer photoshop. A bargain for you is not always a bargain for others. You are very ignorant.

when a new major upgrade comes out from adobe support for anything new goes to the current software only.
yes there will be CS6 as there was 5, 4 and back to the beginning. during each versions tenure there were incremental updates fixes and raw (aka: new camera) updates as they came out. it used to be a yearly upgrade from major upgrade. from 3 to 4 was just a little over a year from release to release. from 4 to 5 was 18 months. 5 to 6 is pushing beyond that so far. the CS6 upgrade will have some surprises and it will continue your RAW conversion updates and around the same time i would say LR will be upgraded too.

in my opinion if you are going to purchase the hardware and decide to use the independently available software you are going to need to pay the fare. now i don't see canon or nikon doing anything in the upgrade pricing arena for any of their hardware at all. its pay to play. welcome to capitalism. its your choice to use what you want. no force was ever applied to you to purchase any of this stuff. don't whine when someone adjusts the game they control. you have the right and ability to leave at anytime.

I guess you are "ignorant" as to what and incremental upgrade is. A full upgrade is like...from 5.0 to 5.5 or 5.5 to 6.0. Between the major releases the are small "incremental" upgrades..like from 5.5 to 5.5.01 or 5.5.02 and so on. These are for bug fixes and to accomodate the new cameras the manufacturers create. Every news release I have seen is about the major upgrades. I hope this helps you understand how this all works.

My point of the post was due the upcoming announcements those who want to continue to you adobe products and are more then 1 version away will have to pay full price for cs6 Is this not true? Of course all of the incremental camera updates will be valid in cs6 until the next full release.

Yes, if you have 5.0 or earlier you will have to pay for a full upgrade.
BUT you original post also stated "Many of us will be forced to purchase the full version when NIkon release there new bodies." and this is misleading. You make it sound as if everytime Nikon releases a new body you have to purchase a new version of PS.

I find it almost comical that people cry about $100-$1000 upgrades don't happen very often while most of them pay $2000+ per month for rent/taxes/mortgage.

my upgrade price from DxO 6 to 7 was $50
ACDsee from v4 to 5 was $30
