ytsaelee Offline • Upload & Sell: Off p.1 #2 · How to take panorama pictures for Google? when you aim the camera down, you see the tripod legs. it is basically taking a bunch of shots in all direction (full circle maybe 8-12 shots from aiming camera straight foward, another 8-12 pointed towards sky full circle, and another 8-12 shots pointed downward angle at ground full circle.) and stitching them up. so equipment: -tripod -wide angle lens -camera -panoramic stitching software i'm not too familiar with the softwares but i have messed around with some a few years back. there are a lot out there. indoor & outdoor are taken the same exact way. Until now I want to do it and cannot find the information. I think there is some special adapter that you mount on the tripod. You can do the 360-degree pans by hand using a regular tripod head (a pan-tilt head will be more accurate than a ball head, IMO), but there are robotic heads that make it automatic. One example: http://gigapan.org/cms/shop/epic-pro Once you have captured the images, they can be assembled into a "virtual reality" using software such as this: http://www.easypano.com/virtual-tour-software.html You can then sign up for a Google API Key and combine your virtual reality images with Google Maps as shown here: http://www.easypano.com/download/tutorial/video/google_new/google_new.shtml Hope this helped. The easiest way to take 360x180 panoramas is with a fisheye lens and dedicated panohead from Nodal Ninja, RRS, etc. Take a look at the how-to section on panoguide: http://www.panoguide.com/howto/;jsessionid=AD2EDB82FB7B24C8149B3DEA8020588F You'll need to use special software for stitching such as PTGui, Autopano Pro, or Hugin. Some people use additional software such as Pano2VR or krpano to output either HTML5 and/or Flash files.
