Hello all N&W FMers,

By tradition we should have this thread started a few weeks back. I haven't seen it, so I'm daring to create one for the forum this year.

Please pick out one of YOUR most favorite picture of the 2011 year and share it in this thread. Toward the end of the thread, we then can add the second most favorite and maybe a third. But let's start with one ... I'll start, Hooded Merganser is my most favorite subject to shoot. Long long time ago, I was not even interesting in taking picture, let alone N&W images, it was a National Geographic Magazine with a front cover of a Hooded Merganser. I was mesmerized, is there such a beautiful duck? I wish I can take that picture ... Well, not exactly the same picture with that same pose ... but close enough ...

Join me for this year thread and thank you all for doing so.

I wish all to have a very Merry Christmas and a super 2012 Happy New Year.

Sincerely,
Khai (aka Major_K)

Khai,
Good idea to get the ball rolling early. I had at least a half a dozen favorites this year.
I settled on a early morning Vermilion Flycatcher shot.
I can't wait to see what's coming, and I bet there will be a few that don't know what "one" means

Thanks -Tim

I bought my first camera in late 2007 and started photographing wildlife in early 2008. One bird that has eluded me since picking up a camera was a Belted Kingfisher. Nearly 4 years of frustration having them fly off laughing at me as soon as I was ready to pull the trigger.

A recent trip to Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge to photograph Snow Geese erased years of frustration when I found a cooperative female fishing near the side of the road. 1 1/2 hours later I made up for all the missed opportunites photographing one.

This is always a difficult decision to make so rather than struggle with it I'm going with a favorite recent shot.

Keep them coming guys, this has traditionally been a great post!!

Great thread and some great shots already. Tim Foltz, that vermillion flycatcher is on my bucket list, in the top 5, as a matter of fact, great shot Here's my fav of the year, a bald eagle about to snatch an alewife up. Best Holiday season to everyone and a safe one too.

Great pick Tim! Beautiful colors, clean back ground, awesome framing, etc. I remebered you were quite thrill when this was presented back then.

Thanks so much for sharing.

Thanks for sharing Duane! Yes, that KingFisher still eluded me for all these time. With my short lense, I don't think I will ever get great picture like yours.

Great shots guys!

Larry Williams joined me for some barn swallow shooting earlier this year. It was fantastic.

I didn't have many this year, but here is one I liked. Early morning light in a salt marsh. Nikon D7000 + Nikon 500mm f4 VR + Wimberley Head. Thanks for looking and a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!

Mark Fadely that barn swallow image is outstanding!!! The depth of field on it is pretty narrow and you nailed focus where it counts nice job!! Thanks for posting.
