I'm a noob at lighting. I want some lights for shooting skiing/biking, and speedlights aren't gonna cut it, so I'm going right for strobes. My question is: Can I use an Alienbees Vagabond or Vagabond Mini to power Elinchrom heads, or will it not work?

Some info here http://www.modelmayhem.com/po.php?thread_id=780953. Your best bet is probably to ask on the paul buff tech forums.

There are other battery-invertor packs available, including the Tronix Mini, which will support most Elinchrom lights. (The Vagabond II has been discontinued, as far as I know.)

The Buff site more or less says you can... But not recommended. He won't say with certainty.

At least that's what I took away from reading the page for his new portable power

I have a Vagabond and use my Speedotron 805 pack and 4 102 heads with it. I did about 50 photographs and still had power. I don't use my modeling lights with the Vagabond.

From reading other post the Vagabond power supplies don't like continuous power.
