ir0nma1den Offline • • Upload & Sell: Off p.1 #1 · Selling the D90, looking for a comparable body So I got an offer for $600 to sell my Nikon D90 body. I'm thinking hard about selling it because although it takes decent photo's, the video portion is severely lacking. I also have a D1X that I love for it's high sync speed, although the batteries are terrible. The T2i seems the ideal camera for video at its price, but I already have 4 Nikon mount lenses, and I don't want to be constantly manual focusing when taking photos. Ideally I'd like to only have one camera for photo and video use, but it looks like I'd have to split between Canon and Nikon unless someone hacks the firmware of the D7000. I mainly shoot skateboarding and people, always with off camera flash whether I'm using speedlites or an Elinchrom Ranger. I could keep the D90 and just buy a t2i for around $400, or I could sell it and get a D7000 or possibly something else? Maybe sell both the D90 and D1X? Nov 28, 2011 at 08:34 PM

OTOH if your familiar enough with magic lantern and its t2i hack, ( Ive owned/hacked 2 myself) then you're probably familiar with twixtor .... shooting at IIRC 1/60 will yield more than acceptable results for your budget. D7K is a much higher quality body... has full manual controls with a few minor caveats and will take your f mount glass. Edit: and keep your D1X for boarding... nothing shoots at 1/4000 sync and never will again. i keep a d1x and h in the cupboard for just such an occasion. Nov 28, 2011 at 10:50 PM

Doubt you'll find much under $900 unless it is damaged. At first I thought I'd keep them both, but I haven't touched the D90 since I got the new body, nor do I need a backup. glad to read that there may be a video hack - video was one of the main reasons to go with the D7000, plus the ability to use almost any lens with metering. If it goes a touch higher but has some extra accessories, you're still doing great from a price perspective. For $320-360, I think it's a very worthwhile upgrade over the D90.
