this is probably a long shot but looking to trade my 600 VR for your 500 AFS II + ~$2800 or 500 VR + ~$1800. Let me know what you have. For now, I am only looking for USA copy. Thanks.
The lens is also for sale at $8900 with 1/2 ground shipping included. USA copy with original case. Comes with 4th Generation replacement foot and the OEM short foot. Also has lenscoat.

Is this 600 a VR2 ? I have a 500 AF-S2, but only interested in a MINT 600 F4 VR2.
"Scottyg" is absolutely correct. As far as I can tell, there is only one VR version (w/ latest VR tech) each for the 400, 500, and 600 lenses. Anyhow, wished you were local as I would have seriously considered your inquiry... For large ticket items, I prefer to work with someone with more feedbacks. This is NOT a reflection on you... Thanks for contacting me.
I'm sorry I don't have many feedbacks, but I just started using this site. You have to start somewhere. There are different versions of VR. Nikon has VR1 & VR2 in 200-400, 70-200. When I bought my lens, the VR wasn't out yet. I think it was only VR1 then, but I could be wrong. VR2 hasn't been around long. ALL my photo gear is MINT !!! I hope we can do business in the future!

Current AF-S VR telephotos 400/2.8, 500/4 & 600/4 have VR (I) technology. They do not have VR II. They were released before this improvement (in August 2007) that appeared with AF-S 300/2.8 VR II in late 2009. Then, Nikon released the 200-400/4 & the 200/2 upgrades.
So, maybe 2012 will see the 400, 500 & 600 upgrades with VR II technology? Time will see...
You have your imformation wrong, the current 400, 500, & 600 are VR II technology even though they are considered VR I . Because they are the first VR version of these lenses they are not labeled as VR II. Check the specs at Nikons website.

Thanks for the clarification to both Scotts. You are correct.
Here's the info from Nikon press release article posted on dpreview
and two quotes from the article - "The new super telephotos give photographers the equivalent of a shutter speed 4 stops faster, thanks to Nikon’s VR II technology."
"The VR II system features a new mode designed to specifically compensate for camera shake when using vibration reduction at slow shutter speeds on a tripod."
I hope this settled the confusions some new members have. Closed this thread to start a new one.
