;( miss the dang beautiful moon today....just wanna try the 800 with 2x extended! But after setting everything up I found out that I left the dang memory card at home (have only 1 for the nex) sign....
But i could see the moon fill the frame by the compo, thou! Gotta give it a try tomorrow! Ahhhh.....still bugging me!
Haha, this happened to me too a couple of times. Another thing is dragging a tripod along and then forgetting the mount plate for the camera. It sucks especially when you feel inspired to make some nice shots when there is good light.
Nixland: I am waiting for my FL 55/f1.2 as I write this (coming in from a pawn shop in Reno, NV), so I can join in the fun.
I am doing a series of tests on the 2x-A vs, 2x-B TC's with my 300mm f2.8 to see if there really are resolution/contast/CA differences between them (Canon rec's the 2x-B for the 300mm f2.8). My 800mm looked the best with a UE date code 2x-B, verses a 2x-A, just for the single sample I used.
Gaider: I hear you on the moon shots...I just missed a B-1 (Lancer) going across a full moon a few years back with the 800mm; I couldn't get it lined-up fast enough...bummer .
Can't wait to contribute to this thread when I get a lens. Just about to buy an FL55 or go for one of the FD50s. Have a new DMC-G3 that needs some quality optics!
Incidentally, shot taken with G2 had ISO 100 marked. Is min ISO not 160 as per G3?
Looks like more folks are joining in...that's great and Thannk You for sharing your images and skills.
Michael49: I am thinking of the NEX5N or the NEX7 to replace my Pany G2; any thoughts? Your shot looks great.
Regards,
Edd
Edd,
Right now I own both the G3 and the NEX-5N (long story). I used to own the GF1.
The G3 is a very nice upgrade from the GF1, but right now I find myself using the NEX more, maybe just because its new to me.
MF with the G3 is really nice with the EVF, but the peaking function of the NEX makes MF so much faster, although not always as accurate; the peaking function is especially nice for less patient subjects, like my wife . I should be receiving the Ext. EVF for the 5N soon and I can't wait to try it out, the NEX LCD is very nice, but I would still much rather hold the camera up to my eye.
The image quality of the 5N is amazing. Even with some of the older and perhaps less well thought of FD lenses I've been very impressed at the image quality. And I find the 1.5X crop more useful than the 2X crop of m4/3 when using legacy glass.
When I'm taking shots in low light with legacy glass I set the 5N to shutter priority mode (1.5 or so X FL) and auto ISO, then all have to fuss with is exposure comp.
I might consider upgrading to the 7 in the future but for now I'm really enjoying the performance of the 5n, plus the tiny size and weight!
Here's a few from today, all with the NEX-5n and the FD 35 f/2.8...

@sebboh & Edd: I finally got FL 55/1.2. Very curious to know and to prove some statement in several forums that the FL bokeh is smoother than the FD. But the eBay price of the FL is too high. Luckily one FL showed up in my country local online lens market, price about $200, met the seller instantly, the optic is good enough, already modified to EOS and I finally bought it!
I think I should write the review of both lenses in a separate thread.
Here they are ...
cool! lookin forward to hearing what differences you find.
Jim, yes, infinity on normal 5D is possible. Not sure whether the parallelism is 100% ok or not for infinity use wideopen. But I love the nearer field around the minimum object distance much more.
The new conversion looks great; looks like you are going to have a lot of fun chasing your son around, so enjoy!
I just picked up a 80-200mm f4 L and 500mm f4.5 L (both with fluorite & UD glass) from an estate sale in Reno, NV. Both are in pristine condition, looks like they have only been handled, not really used outside; not even a mark on the tripod foot of the 500mm. When the weather breaks here, I'll grab some shots outside. The 500mm hits infinity with the EdMika adapter, so I was very pleased to say the least. I will use the 80-200mm on my G2 until I get a NEX5n or NEX7 after the New Year.
Michael49: Nice work with the WA, looks like you are enjoying the vintage glass too! And thanks for your comments/insight.

So many shots that would have looked so much better if the lenses had been stopped down!
For my images above I love it this small DOF way. Tha background is not that nice that I wan´t it sharp.
Thats the reason why I bought and converted some fast lenses - Canon FD24/1.4, Rokkor 58/1.2 and Canon FD 85/1.2. But I also like to go other ways, like apodisation filtering - here the thread about smooth bokeh.
And I stop down my fast lenses too, depending on the image I want to take.
Pretty much everything else is just showing off a lens effect, and while some of the shots here show some very nice bokeh, good bokeh alone hardly makes for a good photo.

They look fine to me(A bokeh whore).
Great shots ZoneV.
Markus: Sorry for the gender swap
And yes, on my copy of the 500mm, it hits infinity at the very end of the focus stop. The EdMika adapter is all of 0.75mm thick...

While I'm not big on the bright lines, sebboh's photo of the crow is pretty cool for an ultra shall DoF photo.

Ok, these are just a few quick posts in facebook galleries, but it's my work:
