Bifurcator, Great shots as always! That Last fly shot - do you have that fly on a piece of glass or something? With a shutter speed of only 1/80s the wings don't look like they're moving.
edit: OOps! must be a little fill.
Great Shots everyone!
You know, now that I think about it I guess what caught my attention to begin with on the flying insect was that it didn't look real because of the no wing movement, that you expect to see.
The pesky biting fly and about 10 of his buddies were on the windshield of my car (with me and the GF in it). Scared to even get out I made lemonade from lemons and whipped out my camera.
That's a horsefly BTW about 2 or 2.5 inches long. Some people call that particular kind a RedBullFly but it's of the horsefly clan if you will. Their bites are nasty and they'er aggressive little bastards too! Here's a line from Wiki:
"Horsefly bites are painful, the bites of large specimens especially so. Most short tongued (short proboscid) species of horse flies use their knife-like mandibles to rip and/or slice flesh apart."
Here's one of his buddies.... Probably sounding the trapped fresh-meat alert to all his other buddies...
