Local First Nations performing a Friendship Dance, at a community event I was shooting PJ style at this evening.
The dance begins with participants joining hands and dancing while revolving in a large circle, inviting bystanders and onlookers to join at the end of the line. It is considered impolite to refuse this invitation. As the start of the circular line catches up with the tail, the originators turn within the circle, effectively creating a rotating spiral. Once the inside of the spiral is too small for the line to continue rotating, the dance ends.
