one hairy flower! Great capture with the depth of field just in the right places.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of really long tubes to use with longer lenses, something in the 3 inch plus range. no need to be AF or have any contacts. Or is that all bellows territory? I really want to get my 300mm and possibly up to the 600mm Nikkors for some close up shooting.

I don't know about using with a 300mm but I use long tubes much of the time. My foavourite is the Olympus OM telescopic 65-116mm: (You won't have any elecrical contacts).

I use most often it this way:

thanks - forgot to mention Nikon mount. I'll keep looking, but that length is what I was hoping to find. The 2 inches I have right now with all my Nikon K1/2/3/4/5 tubes combined is really not enough (4 feet for the 300mm)

Have you thought of a few PN-11s? 51mm each. You could also go DIY and make your own.

Thanks ... they are taken on aperture 2.8 and is approximately 0.3 inches (or 0.66cm) from sensor to subject
Have used a Extension tube 36mm on a lens with a minimum focusing distance of 1.3m

You meant 0.3 inches from lens to subject?
Thanks

Correct me if I am wrong .. I'm not quite sure .. but think the closest focusing distance is calculated from the sensor in the camera body ?
And if the lens is 13cm long with the tube on and has a minimum focusing distance of 0.66cm with 36mm tube on it should be about 0.53cm from the frontglass of the lens to the subject ?

The way I calculated is on fx camera and Nikon 135f2 ai-s with 36mm tube

This is from Nikon...

Minimum Focus Distance

The minimum focus distance is the shortest distance at which a lens can focus. In the case of digital SLR cameras, the distance to the subject is measured from the focal plane mark on the camera body, not from the front of the lens.

Here's something I came across that may not really solve the above question, but it looks like fun to try - DIY extension tube made from a Pringles can:

not sure about their ghetto tilt-shift lens setup made from a toilet plunger, though -
