here are some recent shots i took for my stock portfolio in preparation for xmas.
Lighting setup was: 580EX @ 1/2 power - placed high, camera right (around 45% from front of subject). 430EX @ 1/2 power - placed low camera left, also at around 45 degrees in front of subject. For diffusion i had a bit of a ghetto setup which i hope to improve as soon as i finish moving country this was a stofen omnibounce on the 430EX and i was shooting the 580EX through a reflector (ie through the white translucent material
Comments & Criticsm is always very welcome - dont worry about being polite!
Also assuming the same lighting setup do you think that proper shoot-through umbrellas are ideal for diffusion? should i change setup? is 100cm a good size for umbrellas?
Thanks for looking
Kurt

I looked at all 3 in the larger shots. The poses look fun in all of them. She looks really comfortable in front of the lens. Overall, the face looks a little hot. Also, it looks like her skin is really shiny in several places, including her left arm. Not sure if that is planned but to me, it is kind of distracting. Also, this may just be an artifact of converting the shots to the web but all 3 look like they are way oversharpened. Personally, not a fan of the up the nose pose in #1.
#3 is my favorite of the bunch. Her expression really shows excitement and anticipation as well as some suprise. You should get her in front of the lens more often.
@Pilles - as a 'fine art' (not sure if that is the right term) photo i agree with you completely. But since these are intended for stock use, a bit of copy space i find works better
@who me - I agree the face is a little hot. I am imagining that with better diffusion this would have evened out better right? Also the shiny skin might have come from the cant that it was rather hot - so a bit of perspiration + harsh lighting i'm guessing..... any tips to reduce that in the future?
