I liked this conversion, was my first time really playing around with mixing the red, green, and blue channels. Wanted to get your thoughts on it, the conversion, composition, or anything else!
Well,.....I like it, yet again, there is something not right to me at the same time. I think the fact that you gave such contrast to the sky/cloud, to me (on my screen) it makes the cactus look overexposed. I like the contrast in the clouds...so keep that, any way to get less exposure on the cactus? maybe go into lr2 (if your using it) and use the nice healing brush to tone down the exposure in just that part of the pic? just my opinion, you may not want to change anything, I also wonder if the angle you used was the best, maybe with the mountain range being higher and less of the dramatic sky....or lower to give more of the great sky look and less land, not sure, maybe you have it right after all and I am wrong, to me there is something off even though I like it.
Stunning image, but the foreground (left and center) is void of subject and draws the eye! I'd tone it way down (with shape) and leave the rest. The Cactus highlights are almost "blown" but I think the foreground is adding to it's effect and thus exagerrating it's appearance.......
I like it and hate it :P if you get me. Even though the clouds have quite a bit of blown highlights I love the contrast of the sky! Very dramatic. The texture of the trees in the background almost have sort of an Ansel Adam's tree feel to them (the lovely texture. But the closer cactus doesn't seem to fit in very well... is it just me?
