i think you've got some very nice shots here-i like your exposure choices and processing generally speaking-very straightforward and classy look to your shots as well-i'm not a fan of the posed stuff, though-they look somewhat uncomfortable and some of your backgrounds are not clean-almost like you shots formals haphazardly-perhaps my perception is off but that's it looked like-the compositions of the cleaner couples shots didn't work for me (aside from one or two of the the field shots)
some nice candids there, though there are too many unnumbered shots to comment specifically-i think you have a pretty good style of shooting, so my thinking is to work on your posed formals and couples shots and make those stand out-i would say those were the weaker shots
hope you find this helpful and constructive-not my intention to trash any photographer in this forum-thanks for sharing your work, victor
Thanks for helpful tips Daniel! Most of these pictures were not really posed. I didn't post too many formals, but I have a lot of them. This is just a little part of 800 pictures I have. You are right about posing, that's my weakest part. I'll check out some books about posing.
To add on the above post, I would be careful with how you conduct your skin softening - in my opinion, it is overdone and it is obvious that it's being applied to the image automatically and not just the skin...for example, in the image below, you can see the grass/field has a blurred, "Just Been NeatImaged/Noise Ninja'ed" look to it. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3003/2640586814_e6506a84e5_o.jpg
Careful work with the airbrush tool and layers will help give you a cleaner look and seperate you from many.
Actually it's the result of using wider aperture and being close to the subjects. Note that close to the couple the grass is not blurred, that was the whole idea of the shot! Thanks for the tip though!

No, it's the result of the softening + sharpening as noted, giving that 'haloy' effect. I wasn't referring to depth of field. You can see it in the majority of shots..
notice how his nose kind of has a blend into his face..? It looks unnatural - as mentioned, toning down the softening, be it noise removal or gaussian blur, will help, or doing the post work manually with clone/airbrush/etc will also work.
Nice selection of shots on your blog! Just gotta watch the WB settings in a few of them. You can easily see the ones that suffer from bad WB choice. Apart from that I really like them.

Ok, here is a picture straight out of camera, no adjustments! His nose doesn't look much worse to me. Also you have to realize that all the pictures on the web sharpened for web!
Thanks for the tips though!
I think none of the above were shot with 85L, I believe it was 70-200 2.8L and the first one was shot with 50mm 1.4, Exif is still there, you can check it out. If you want to see 85L shots, go to my Blog and check out Erin and Jonathan's wedding. a little girl with angel face was shot with 85L, there is few others with that lens. 1D mark3 with 85L is just fantastic! I like the combo better than using 5d+85L.
