Tell us more, any secrets here??
Hey Tom, Exif should be intact but I shot -2/3 EC to keep the skin tones natural.
Think they were at f1.6, switched to MF after a couple bottles of wine...not sure
of the logic in that move but the static shots came out pretty well.
Hey TM, thanks! Are these in-camera JPGs or RAWs processed with Capture,...? I guess what I'm asking is: should I suspect the in-camera jpeg engine for the high noise I see at ISO 3200?
I have all the NR crap turned off...these are JPGs straight out of camera.
I played around some with it but found over ISO800 the images really softened up.
Saw a tip here for EC adjustments (forgot his name, but Thanks!) -1/3 for ISO1600
and -2/3 for ISO 3200 to keep the colors natural.
These are impressive shots. You did a good job on exposure. I've found that even though the D300 is an improvement over earlier Nikons, nailing exposure at high ISO (1600 and above) is still necessary. I took some ISO 3200 shots last night and will post if I get a chance .... we'll see how my D300 fares.
I really like the 1st. I'm sure these guys would love copies.

Appreciate it, Andre. Yeah, I shot the group since they had Bio's on their website but no
pictures. We all know that will never do! Got some fine crowd candids, people were in great
moods last night. I was blown away by the lack of noise...looks like I'll have some rather
expensive paperweights from you know who, when I'm doing this type of shooting.
monkey your' a maniac !!! you know nikon cant shoot over iso 800... haha just foolin.
say, did you use auto WB? I see a slight tonal shift between image 2 and 3.. could be exposure, but i find the same warmer than should be tones in incadescant light when shooting high iso with my d300
I know! I think any shift was in direct proportion to the amount of wine consumed...
pretty sure it was in 'A' WB most of the night with some forays into incandescent.

Mr Conte, Ive found, as others have that D2X mode 2 renders less noise than any default D300 profile. IIRC any D2X mode functions this way.
Crap...these could have been cleaner I was in 'monkey mode...left my D2X home.
