My Cherry Tree and Peach trees are blooming and every year after the first bloom and about a month there after you need to be careful coming and going as the trees just buzz like an airport and filled with bees of at least 3 different species. They don't seem bothered by the coming and goings of the people in the house and don't bother you as you go past. Every year I like to watch them a little as they work away. I know my bees and know when someone different show up.
As I was outside enjoying the butterflies as they enjoyed the Phlox I heard this sound... it sounded like a jet liner was l anding in my yard. (Ok a bit of farce, but it was loud) I looked around and landed on this gorgeous beauty in my Cherry Tree...
He really seemed to be enjoying the cherry blossoms and was not at all bothered by my shoving a lens in his face. The other bees seemed to be at first concerned about his arrival, but later settled down to suck up the pollen off the blossoms. I tried to get a flying shot of him, but he was WAY too fast for me to catch him. (I couldn't follow him with the camera)
I left him alone for awhile and started following a Monarch around who enjoyed my ground covering Phlox.
Kandie the last shot is very pretty. Butterfly looks very nice on the Phlox. Good shot of the bumblebee, you will soon have to get yourself a macro lens! Have fun, and 'bee' careful.............
King, Thanks for the correction. I only know the Mourning Cloak and the Monarch. There was a little black one with white spots running around as well, it was kinda small and wasn't gonna pose as well as the Lady did.
Karl, Thanks! I got a Fisheye Wide Angel Macro, I still have to figure out how to use it though. Interesting looking little thing.
