p.1 #1 · Some from the zoo

Hi all, some from the local zoo, it was about 11 miles to cycle and the weather was gorgeous, a lovely day out.
Unfortuantley all shot through the fence so not great, hardly anymore than snapshots, some day I will get good like you guys.
In the meantime enjoy these, and c&c always welcome.
Mike

Keep shooting and having fun, it will fall into place if you keep at it. #2 is quite nice

Zoos are hard to shoot. But I like how # 2 came out.

I like the Golden Lion Tamarin or is that a marmoset? Anyways, nice work

Brian: It's a Tamarin I think (I'm admittedly struggling to remember now).
Lil: That was shot through glass, everything else was through wire, which seems to have made it a lot harder (I expected the glass to mess things up too to be honest).
Karl: Thanks, #2 is my favourite too, the wire seems to have washed out and blurred everything else.

Added another of my favourites, if you look closely you can still see the pattern of the wire, though its very OOF and green?! Something I've not seen before. The photo turned out OK though I think.

Good job Mike, shooting through glass and mesh is a pain. At the zoo yesterday myself and it was hard to get a good focus on some of the critters. Once again, the images are great.

Mike, I would concur with Lil that shooting at the zoo can be quite challenging. I think, considering those challenges (shooting through mesh, wire and glass, etc) that you did a respectable job here (especially your second shot). I find that I usually have to manually focus, when shooting through wire or mesh barriers (as the autofocus tends to want to focus on the fence instead of your subject). Post processing can really sharpen things up for you. I find that boosting the contrast helps a lot too! I am at work right now, though, If I were at home I would post some before and after images for you to see the difference PP can make. Keep those posts coming!

Ken: Agreed, I've commented on your thread already, I have no shame in admiting you did a much better job than me!

David: Agreed, I used manual focus mostly the AF was hunting around all over the place, I'm not great with PP but here is a go, possibly massively over boosted the contrast, my monitor isn't calibrated.

Thanks for the help!

Mike

Edit: Image was sharpened too!
