Upload & Sell: Off
p.1 #1 · black and white/color

I was wondering if anyone has had this problem. I was uploading some black and white pics into my Photoshop Elements 5 and had them all load up in color. I put the card back into my camera and verified that they were indeed taken in black and white mode. I uploaded to two different computers using the photoshop downloader. I have taken and uploaded black and whites before....I found this very strange. The pics were taken with my D80 in Raw format.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Sheila

RAW files can not be B&W. They are just RAW data without any formatting applied. The B&W files that you uploaded before must have been JPEGs. Another possibility is that the software that you were using before was the Nikon software and it could recognize the B&W preset. I'm a Canon shooter so I can't give you the Nikon software details.

Photoshop Elements probably doesn't recognize the shooting data that is embedded in your RAW files.

Like UCSB said, raw files cant be in B&W as its just sensor data. Try opening the files with Nikon Software and see.

Thanks UCSB and HinduG. I have used the Nikon software in the past, I will give this a try.

Thanks for your help.
