Looks great, but what about shock resistance?

It's like a neverready case for the new century. With all that heavy/bulky stuff the camera becomes rather less P/S-ish.

Five comments about a product that doesn't exist. They are not shipping until at least January. Judge it after you have tried it. It is a good company with interesting products. Some are great, some not so great. Wait for it to hatch before you count it.

what a pointless load of rubbish,I'd rather have a nice crumpler bag which would probably be far more protective and stylish.

so if it does get a bang, does that mean it'll be permanently stuck on the camera? why and how for only 50 bucks when every thing else is so expensive. i have a good bit of rrs kit too.

A small Pelican with cushy lining would provide similar protection as the aluminum jacket. And remain about the same hassle to deal with. Once you extract the camera, then what? You have to stuff the case in a pocket or another bag.

If I'm going to spend 50 bucks I would spend it on a water case, it's more useful in rain, snow, or near the pool.

I quite simply can't see the point. It makes it harder to use the camera, and doesn't protect it from dust or moisture.

But then again I probably wouldn't buy a G9, it's either Ixus or EOS for me.

The idea to have it fit an L-plate is very clever! The case doubles as a mini tripod. That's pretty cool!

It is very cool, though you need a flat horizontal surface to set it down upon. One where there's no strong wind to topple it.

I'm sure they'll sell a few, it's pretty funny. Someone somewhere will love it... just like people do those damn lebraws they put on the front of their cars

Try skiing with your crumpler bag. This thing will provide great crushproof protection for that and still be smaller than a bag.

That's why they're called Crumpler! heh heh ...

Though I question the wisdom of skiing with and possibly falling onto a hard thick object like a metal-encased camera. That could be a bone-breaker.

No more so than the UHF radio and the various other things I often carry when skiing (ski patroller). Not a big deal - bigger risks than that.

seriously, what is the big deal. this is a unique product that will definitely appeal to some for ruggedness or design or just being different. If you like it, buy it. if you don't like it, don't buy it. but let's not just sit around making up reasons why it sucks or rules. might as well talk about ladies' handbags.

It does have some unique benefits in certain applications (like my skiing one, for instance). But it isn't for everyone.

That said, my G9 is dang tough. Slipped out of my hand at chest height and fell to the concrete sidewalk. Not a mark on it and works just fine.

A-Ha! Add one more comment about the RRS case - unnecessary!
