p.1 #1 · Lauren - Are these worth keeping?

I know how many of you enjoy seeing my shots of Lauren and I appreciate it. I was going through some of her older shots with Adobe Lightroom and these three really popped out for me. Am I just being too prejudiced with my love for her and can't really judge whether these shots are any good or not? Minimal retouching was done, I just wanted your C& C whether the shots are worthwhile or not before I do anything else with them.

Thanks!

She's lovely but I don't think these pop because her expression seems bored/angry in #1, startled in #2 and an uncomfortable in-between smile in #3.

#3 is too soft. Otherwise it is worth keeping IMO.

Her legs/knees are not flattered in #2 and the quality/processing of #3 seems odd to me. What is the original file like?

#1 expression not great
#2 I will agree with the leg comment
#3 Nice, but I would agree with the soft comment.

Jay,

#1: Looks too soft, like it is a bit out of focus. The knee bothers me and her expression is not the best. In general there are too many things going on in the bottom part of this image (hands, knees, a little bit of her shorts); my eyes go there instead of her face.

#2: Wrinkles/bumps in the knees aren't flattering. There is a bump on the inside of her left knee (our right as we view the image). I would crop this image above the knees or mid-thigh. If you do that then I think it's a keeper.

#3: Again too soft, like it is a bit out of focus. Her hand (I assuming it's her hand) in the lower right corner of the image is distracting, however this could easily be cloned out. Her smile seems slightly off.

Terry

1 and 3 look great.

But, burn the shorts and bin the boots. And get a shot whilst you do it...

jay - these must pre-date the mandible findings =) ...

that being said, i like #2 best ... still though, forced smiles in all of them really ...

i think i remember you were having a focus/softness problem for a while way back when, no? ... i remember that being on ongoing discussion for a few weeks ...

applying some things i noticed in other posts recently, i think she would be a good candidate for lighting that you would normally use on a heavy set person - perhaps a vertically oriented strip light tilted towards her - which in theory would leave the outer edges of her face w/ less light and counteract the fact that she has a prominently wide jaw ...

maybe, maybe not ...

Personally I always do a series of elimination rounds after a shoot.

First get rid of all the technically bad, then the worst of equal poses,
then maybe one or two rounds more to end with the really best.

I agree it's tempting to look back and save some more but then there's
no point in all the elimination work

They may not be perfect, but by no means should you delete them.

omg i don't think you'll have to try very hard with her. She's absolutely gorgeous and I don't even like blondes.
You seem to like black kneehigh boots - have her do what you like most about that

PS: post here when done, of course

I'm a huge fan of Lauren and I am a huge fan of girls wearing knee high black high heeled boots. I think that is what I should specialize in.

What are you doing to these pictures? They look like camera phone pictures. Look at the third one, seriously.

Hard to say. Those pictures are saved at such a low quality, I couldn't really enjoy them regardless of whether they are keepers or not.
Maybe this was intended so no one steals them?

I might have saved them at the wrong settings.

I also was having some problems that day, uploading to the website I put these one, when linking to FredMiranda.com

No, they are not worth keeping. You both can do better.
