p.1 #1 · Using a polarizing filter for general birding

I just picked up a 600mm for birding and went ahead and bought the 52mm circular polarizing filter as it was one of the highly recommended accessories.

I was wondering what percentage of the nature and wildlife photographers here use a drop-in polarizing filter, and what might be some of the advantages or disadvantages of its use beyond the obvious or what’s stated in the literature?

Thanks in advance,

Sam

I'll use the drop in if I have to shoot say 10-3 on a bright day. The times with good light
I really hate losing a stop or two with it. I shoot a 300 f2.8 w/TC wide open but would
think the same line of reasoning will apply for the 400/500/600 superteles.

Thank you Will! I have spent the last 6 months shooting my grandsons first
football season. The games start at 1:00. I will order a polarizing filter right now. BP

Now that was funny.......

Thanks for your responces, I'll mark them down in my FM book of knowledge.

You know, I hadnt thought of using it for field sports, but since it will fit in my 300 as well, Ill have to give that one a try.
