p.1 #1 · Topload bag for 40D?

I just received the Lowepro Topload 75 AW and that thing is massive! I used to own the Topload mini, which I liked a lot, but it's too small for my 40D and 17-85 IS.

What I'm looking for is something I can take on a hike and quickly take my camera out as well as put it away. I have the Lowepro Trekker AW for when I travel but I want something that I can take to Disney World and won't be so cumbersome. The people waiting in line behind me will appreciate it! : )

Try the Slingshot 200. A pleasant blend of top load and back pack. Probably the best smaller all purpose bag around.

I have a C382 from Kinesis. It can hold a gripless 40D with a mid-range zoom (e.g. 28-135 or Tamon 28-75). The front pocket is perfect for a EX flash. There are two unpadded side pouches for miscellaneous items such as batteries. Works with either a shoulder strap or a belt.

I have no affiliation with Kinesis.

I have a Tamrac Velocity pro 8x and really like it. It can hold an slr with up to a 70-200 lens attached. It is a sling pack that you can pull it open in front of you without taking it off.

I have a little rant about those non-squared bags that taper down at the bottom. I had one and became so frustrated with it I tossed it to the land fill.
I couldn't stand it up in a corner. It rolled around while I tried to load or unload it. It was top heavy and awkward to deal with. The smaller bottom always seemed to create some kind of inconvenience for me. It looks funny hanging from your shoulder.

But I guess there is some kind of application for the pointed design.

The best holsters I know of are Think Tanks Digital Holster and Kinesis holsters. I have them both and of these, I second Jim - TT is the best holster.

The Domke F-4AF holds a 40D with 24-70 f/2.8L mounted (hood reversed) and an extra lens with room left over for your flash if you want it, batteries and what have you as well as a few personal items. All in all, a very nice man purse/camera bag. Just pack a trash bag in case of tropical downpours since the canvas isn't waterproof.

I have both the Lowepro Toploader 75AW and the Think Tank DH 20. The 75 is made for a x0D with a grip or a 1-Series. It would take up to a 300f4,0 IS on the camera. The TT DH20 is made to take a 40D or 5D type camera without a grip. It is expandable to take a long lens, but when not need it is pretty short.

Here is a picture of the 75 AW and the DH20

I use the Tiffen Zing Large Zoom SLR Camera Cover for my 40D, it's great:
