Wellllllll... My recently purchased Sigma 70-200 2.8 (non DG) is having some af problems, mainly the chip because it still works fine on my schools old D1 but literally will freak out on my D70 every now and then.
I emailed Sigma and they said they will rechip the lens for free however... So I guess thats a big plus!
Sigma seems to be really good about that... I've heard that they will do that universally, and at no cost. I've had GREAT luck with my four Sigma EX series lenses. Great quality, great images. No regrets.
Yea I love mine alot, and once it gets re-chipped I should love it even more!
Alot of guys complain how Sigma sucks and stuff but in all reality... They make some really nice lenses and seem to stand by them. Especially in my case considering its a used lens without a warrenty.
Could you explain the "freak out on my D70 every now and then" comment. I'm wondering if I need mine worked on. I use it on my D70 too and have been told all images look under exposed. I know that's also a Nikon trait, atleast I've read that for the D70. Now I'm wondering about the lens being an issue.

I think the OP is referring to AutoFocus trouble that locks-up the lens (typically happens in low light). Turning the camera OFF and then back ON typically corrects the issue.
That was the issue with my Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 HSM before I had the chip/board replaced.
