Now the D200 has been announced what is a realistic selling price for a D100 body? Actually, I don't think the D200 does anything to hurt the resale value of the D100. The D70 is really it's main competition and has had the most affect on it
Let's assume excellent condition (actuations - don't know how to find?) with latest firmware and everything it comes with new - adapter, battery, manual etc.

Any ideas?
Thanks, Michael
Best guess in the $500 range - one third of what I paid for mine. If I get a D200, unless my D100 kicks first, I'm keeping it.
I dun think i'd sell the D100 , maybe i've no reason to get a used D100... the selling price would be so low that i'd rather keep using it til it can't work.
Since the release of D200, lot of people are going to sell their D70's.( and most people will sell their trusty D100's too) That will drive the used prices of D100 down very badly. Right now the new D70s and D100 costs about the same. So, in used market, D100 might go a little less than the D70(s). Looking at it that way, I think you can expect a price between $500 and $600 for an excellent+ and ~400 for anything less than Excellent+ .

-Beji
PS: This is just my gut feeling, could be wrong. Ebay is a very strange place. You never know what you will get.

Several months ago there were a couple of D100's on our for sale board here at FM for $650 range, and they DID NOT sell at that price as far as I could tell. They were up for quite a while. D70's were basically selling for $700 at that time, so why buy used? For the most part they are interchangable, and the D70 is actually a little better in many respects...
I just sold my D100, and for more than $500. It is a matter of where to sell and not what to sell it for. On this forum, I don't think you will get more than $600 for a D100 with extras. On photo.net or nikoncafe, you might do a little better.
I gaurantee you the most you are going to get is going to be selling on craiglist.
Each forum has its own equilibrium. You don't sell medium format gear on this forum. You sell them on photo.net. You don't buy lenses on photo.net because people there have no reall community watch like FM or robgalbraith does.
This is the best forum to buy for safety. It is very easy to see the rep of someone on this board and if they screw you, there is always someone who is willing to volunteer a friendly visit. If nothing else, public humiliation works too. But I have to say that the prices aren't going to be much better here than on KEH, just more trustworthy.
Real deals can be made on Nikoncafe, because most of the photogs there are bird watching funsters with more money than common sense. They buy gear, get bored and move on. They even have entire forum dedicated to lens lust, which should tell you that they LOVE to spend money. I have gotten more lenses on that forum than any other.
I buy DSLRs on this forum.
I buy backgrounds and gigets on ILP
I buy lights and studio gear on photo.net
Nikonians.org and sportsshooters.com are horrible. Occasionally you find a deal, but mostlly it is people that want to convince you that a D1H is still worth $2500 because it makes a click click noise.
I`m in the que for a D200 myself .
I don`t really need or want a backup camera and selling off my D70 for 5-6 hundred bucks (US) would probably make me sick so I decided to give it to my daughter. I`m probably gonna throw in the 18-70 lens too.

Well I just sold my trusty D100 with 2 sigma kits lenses and the SB80dx for $900. Everything was in excellent condition. It wa hard to part with. The camera has been so good to me but I am needing the extra cash to pay for the D200 on order. I have been equally happy with the D70 so till the D200 arives it will work just fine.
Like mentioned befor I think the D70 has a bigger part to play on the D100 price. A few people I talked to would rather spend the mponkey on a new D70 then a used D100. It is hard to try an explain to someone that the D100 is still and will be for many years a great camera. I loved the low light capabilities and the long exposure images I recieved out of it. I just hope the D200 matches it in thise ways.
I think depending on its condition between $550 to $750 might be a reasonable price.

If you look at what you bundled with your D100 you got LESS than $500 for the body! This is pretty much about what I would expect. I don't think that there's any way you can convince someone who knows what they are buying to spend more than $600 even on an excellent+ body.
Actualy while we are on the subject, who are you buying from?
I have been thinking of going with Ritz Camera, because I have used that no-fault warranty and it was great. Dropped my camera in the Ohio and got a new one. But it isn't cheap.
Well I have purchased all of my equipment at ritz and have always received excellent service. This is the first time I will purchase online. I have had 3 70-200 VR lenses exchanged for new ones.
Gerald; I actually figured my D100 at $650, the flash at $150 and trhe lenses at $150. I was asking $950 originally but $900 sure sounds good when trying to pay for new equipment. The prices where averaged from serches online on used equipment. I could have gotten a few more $ for the lenses but what do you expect from Cheap lenses?
Anyway I am happy with the price and it gave me enough to pay for the D200 so no complaints on my part. At least not yet.
Thanks for the replies. I'll hold on to it and decide later what to do. If I can get the right price may just sell but it's a nice camera and either way it's cool. Thanks dragonfly for those other sites. I've never vistied them so I'll take a look around.

If I had two DSLR's I might actually sell one as well, but since the D70 belongs to my wife, the D100 stays!
