These are my first posts in City, Still Life, & Abstract - all from Summer 2007 when I was in Milwaukee for a class at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. We were just walking around town after dinner and I captured these shots with my 20D and little ol' kit lens. No processing or cropping done.
Thanks, Shaun - IMHO, I think the partial cloud cover adds to the overall look of this shot. Seems that mother nature can either make our pictures into something better or can tear it apart (e.g. - harsh afternoon sun). I was fortunate that a weak weather front was moving in that night and I just happen to catch part of it in this shot.
#'s 1 and 3 are really nice shots. Number 2 is a wee bit overexposed, in my opinion. I live in Chicago, and have been thinking of making the long commute up there for some shooting. It's a really nice looking, underrated town!
Matt - I think I agree on #2...all the light bulbs on the bridge are a bit overwhelming. I'll see if I can play with it when I have time later on.
Milwaukee was a wonderful, beautiful city to visit! The museum on the lakefront is fantastic for photography of the exterior, especially on a stormy day. I was very impressed with how clean the town was. Plenty of good places to eat, too!
