After seeing some of the samples here I have decided to try some Alt. glass but am having an issue trying to figure out what all will work with the EOS mount. So far I have the following:
M42 --> EOS
Leica R --> EOS
Contax --> EOS
What else is out there? Also what is the best type to be looking for in terms of adapters or changing the mount out right. I mainly do landscapes, so something that will allow infinity focus would be great.
Then the next million dollar question is what would be a good starter lens to get that will not break the bank? I will be using a 40D and an EOS 3 for cameras and possibly an old 350D if I convert it over to IR.
Specifically, the Super-Takumar and S-M-C Takumar 50 f/1.4s are great lenses...the S-M-C has a bit more punch and better bokeh (better coatings and more aperture blades), but otherwise they are optically identical. Super Takumars go anywhere from $35-$70 depending on condition. S-M-Cs go from $60-$120 depending on condition.
On the wide end, the OM Zuiko 28 f/3.5 is the best deal in town...sharp corner to corner (though slow), and can be had for about $40.

The only thing I would have against the 28 3.5 is that you just can`t beat the widest aperture that you can get when manual focussing.Even 2.8 over my 35-70 3.4 is noticeably easier to focus let alone f2 or f1.4.
Thanks for the info guys, there are a few of the OM Zuiko 28 f/3.5's on auction right now with varying price (11$ to 70$) with the high end being here in Canada so no duty. Any suggestions as to which is the best adapter to use with the lens?
Olympus lenses tend to be less fussy about adapters (good fit, good infinity focus, etc.) than other brands such as Contax, so a moderately priced adapter ($20~$30?) from eBay is probably going to be all right. FM members always have good words to say about happypageHK.
Finding a good adapter can be a bit hit and miss, so it's best not to be too disappointed if a dud arrives in the mail, but the situation has gotten a lot better in, say, the past year.
