I'm hoping we have some video experts here on the forum who can chime in on this...
What would be a good software program to use to edit the H.264 video from the 5DII on my Windows Vista x64 PC?
I don't need to do really fancy stuff, just the following basics:
- Runs on Vista 64-bit
- Splits and Joins
- Basic transitions
- Sync external audio (if I'm using a separate audio recording device)
- Add background music
- Embed still shots
- Save to CD, DVD, or web
Again, I'm running Vista64, so please keep that in mind with your responses.
If anyone wants to contribute suggestions for other platforms as well, that's great - but please be clear what platforms are supported for each software package that you recommend.

Take a tour of the demo. It will do everything on your list and than some... the price is a bit over your budget though. The elements version is cheaper and will do the things you mention also.
I'm not sure about 64bit Vista though, I am running 32 bit Vista fine though.

Rich - I'll check out the Elements version (the Pro is $800, which is more than I want to spend for basic video editing). I'll call Adobe on Monday to find out if it support Vista 64-bit, as it's not listed on the website.
