p.1 #1 · 50D/EOS Utility with Leopard (Mac)

Anyone else having trouble with their 50D and getting the EOS Utility to connect under Leopard 10.5.5? I simply want to connect the 50D to enter my name/copyright info into the exif data, but the software freezes when the camera is plugged in via the USB cable. I've tried plugging in the camera first, which automatically starts the utility, and I've tried plugging in the camera with the utility already running. It freezes, either way.

I also tried the old 5D trick of connecting the camera with an image on the LCD, and that also failed.

I suppose I could also try installing all the software under Parallels/WinXP, but I'd rather not. Thanks in advance.

EOS Utility works perfect under OS 10.4.11. I briefly used OS 10.5x but it was incompatible with much of my music hardware & apps (& some Canon apps). It seems to take a couple years for venders to catch up to a major OS update.

Oh well. Installed the Canon software under Parallels/WinXP, and was able to connect with the 50D.

My 50D and 40D have always worked fine under Leopard, only the 5D had probs.
Even the 5D now works with the latest version of EOS Utility and 10.5.5.

I only wanted to add my personal info to the 50D, but I'm still curious as to why it won't connect Leopard, so maybe I'll play with it more later. Otherwise, I'm never using the Canon software for anything else. I never even had that known issue with the 5D, nor with any of my other bodies.
