I have been contacted by an agency in central Wisconsin for an all-day photo shoot to help them produce a manual for gentle yoga exercises for senior citizens and disabled persons. It would entail about 20-30 photos and travel about 2-3 hours total. They are applying for a grant and want an estimate.
Am I wrong to assume I would be giving up copyright on these images? I was thinking in the range of $700 dollars as it sounds like there would be a lot of "downtime" involved and only 20-30 images needed.
You license the usage of your copyrighted works, you should not give up or transfer your copyright.
I can't advise on quotes as I am known on this board to be a "low-baller", but it would be important at least to find out what the circulation is for this manual to help determine your fees and usage terms. Also, you may want to put a line item about a travel surcharge with your rationale being high gas prices -- $50 at least for this.
