I spent some time with the family over the holiday weekend (here in the states), which was a good opportunity to try and get a shot or two of my niece and nephew. Amidst taking pictures of my brother-in-law running his RC boat on the lake, I got a nice informal portrait of my quickly growing nephew. Too lazy to switch to my 17-55, I kept the 70-200 mounted and moved back a bit (dumb 5ft minimum focus distance ). Sitting in the grass on my knees, this is what I came away with. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Geez, what's not to like. The smile (pose), the positioning, the contrast, the color, the sharpness, the framing.......what else is there....well done indeed. Almost makes me sad I had to give up my 70-200vr for the preordered D700.........well, maybe not, but it sure is nicely done. Keep doing what you're doing.......

Nice shot. My 70-200 is still my lens that continues to surprise me with it's results more than any of my other lens.
It surprises me too! The images aren't as good as I thought on the D3 edges...but a very nice utility lens non the less. That said, this is a very nice image!
