p.1 #1 · #294: Day in, day out

I have a couple of blue tits nesting at the bottom of my garden. They are feeding at sunrise (way before I get up!), are still feeding when I get home from work, and still carry on until sunset. If that isn't a daily ritual, I don't know what is!

Andy--Outstanding capture of a beautiful bird. You just wonder if they ever get tired or if that parental instinct keeps them going full tilt all day long. Best of luck.--Frank

Beverly, Frank, thanks for the comments!

It took a long time to get that one shot (ask my girlfriend, she wanted to go somewhere!), although I couldn't complain, it was a good excuse to get out and sit in the sunshine we've been having over here in the UK!

I could only take the shot between 9am and 1pm, otherwise the sun would go round too far and all I'd get would be a silhouette, and I'd lose the colour.

I can't take all the credit for the shot though, a lot of it was luck. I had many failed attempts: they move very quickly and in an almost erratic manner. It was a case of "just one more shot hun....".

Most shots were out of frame or focus, or the subject wasn't quite what I wanted, although I got a few interesting shots (see http://f3fpics2.mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/bluetits.html ). As you can imagine when I got this one I was very happy and came down from my own perch with a big grin on my face!

Andy

Thanks for sharing the other photos. Boy can I relate. I've got a hummingbird feeder and I've been trying to capture some close-ups of those guys. I've had some great success, but it does take patience, plus them getting more trusting of your presence/proximity. My dogs want to come out and join me, which messes things up though. ha

Hi Andy,

Great shot of a very pretty bird. I have been working on bird photography lately as well. It takes patience and quite challenging, but it is a rewarding to get a good one every once and awhile. This shot is better than a good one it is excellent. Good luck this week.
