p.1 #1 · Quarreling Woodpeckers

I post this for the story and not because I think it is great art. All pictures taken with a 300 F4, plus a 1.4 extender at 400iso, 1/1000 @ f8 hand held.

This story takes place in the top of a tall dead ash tree, (probably a victim of the “Emerald Ash Borer”). A Red-headed woodpecker chooses it for a nesting site and starts boring a hole.

Thanks so much for your help Lil and Ed. The large image was a mistake. I read elsewhere on this forum that using Photoshop's "save for web” feature made the best images for posting. Unfortunately, I did not pay any attention to the dimensions of my image. Once I realized that I had made a mistake I could not find a way to delete the image or the post.
