p.1 #1 · March 22 Wedding

I need a very honest critque with these. I am unhappy with the end results because I think I could have done better. Please give me your thoughts I want to learn!

I think you did a pretty decent job overall. I liked the composition of many of the photos and there were a few that were very good.

There are a few things that I noticed that I wasn't crazy about. The first is that I think the skin tones are too oversaturated and orange in the color photos. These look like you used Lightroom. Maybe try using Vibrance rather than Saturation. The second is the direct flash look that many of them have. It seems like you might have had a bracket or diffuser on there, but it still looks a little too direct-flashy for me.

Is there a way to view the vertical photos a little bigger? There are some really good ones, I wish I could see in more detail.

I liked lot of 'em, Jorge, it was a pretty simple down to earth wedding, which you covered well.
On your formals, I did not like the fireplace behind them especially so much in focus. I know it can be a challenge to find a good spot, but I think it would have been better to put the couch in the middle of the room and control the DOF so it's just all a blur behind them.

Jorge:

You might consider toning down your flash a bit. Many of the images appear burn or overly bright. Another technique I would suggest is to maybe get the flash off your camera if you can. By shift the light to another focal point you can control the shadows. Dialing down the flash output will soften the glare. The composition looks pretty good but I agree with the fireplace comments from Tony. If you are using the fireplace as part of the composition, then it can work for you. However, I believe that it is simply a distraction from your main subject. Learning to see the entire frame before you squeeze the shutter is something I am still working at, but once we get it, the finished images really jump to another level. Good work overall. Thanks for sharing.

I think an important question you have to ask yourself is why YOU don't like the shots. Pick the ones you're unhappy with and figure out why... you're way ahead of the people who have no idea at all.

And can I say it? She really does look like a Crystal.
