A good friend of mine is getting married at the courthouse on the 29th of this month. Long story short:
They were going to have a nice small beach wedding when they moved to key west or honolulu in june.
They scrapped those plans for now and are getting a quick "wedding" at the courthouse for Military paperwork, housing and insurance purposes.
The city county building will not allow any cameras inside, so we are going to go to a couple places downtown and do a "wedding" day shoot at several locations.
My question is: Are there any locals or people familiar with the area to offer ideas for locations? We are going to the circle, canal, and try old Union Station. I would like to find a location where I can include the skyline.
I have never done any work like this, so any tips would be GREATLY appreciated.
I have a 20D, 50mm 1.8, and a 75-300. I may have some access to borrow another lens or 2 if necessary.
The canal is presently a nearly-empty pit of black sludge, dump trucks and front-end loaders, as they proceed to excavate the sediment. Not a pretty sight (or 'site').
Go to the Indianapolis Museum of Art's various gardens, Holcomb Garden at Butler University, the White River Garden at the Indy Zoo Garfield Park.
Skyline: The Lawn (White River State Park), West end of the Riverwalk (behind the Zoo, off White River Parkway).
Inside the Statehouse rotunda, the new Central Library building, try to sweet-talk your way into one of the upperfloor offices at Chase tower (full-length glass exterior walls)...
Definitely go to White River State Park. Just past the IMAX, there's a bridge over the canal with a great view of the skyline. I'd go downtown, too, and go on a carriage ride on the Circle with them.
Thanks guys. I know the canal is an empty mess. There are a couple flags down there I want to incorporate into photos. He will be dressed in his Coast Guard dress attire. Next decently warm day, I am going to go downtown and stroll around and see what I can find. I will also be checking out the park locations.
