I have a Cameraquest adapter to put M42 screw mount lenses on my 1DsII. Pentax wide Talumars (24mm, 28mm and 35mm) are plentiful and cheap on the "bay". Given the weaknesses of Canon wide primes on the full frame DSLRs, has anyone tried the Takumars? They probably would not compete with Leica and CZ wides, but they did have a nice reputation.
Thanks

The 35/3.5 is awful in my opinion. The 28/3.5 is better but doesn't compare to the Zeiss 28/2.8 by all accounts. then again, it's about $40 compared to $240
I don't know about the 24 but I understand the Takumar 35/2 is pretty good but the price is getting up there, $70+ I believe. For that price, if you are convinced you want to stay with a M42 mount lens then I'd go with the Flektogon 35/2.4.
Take a look here for the Flek vs the Takumar 35/3.5 and the Canon 35L, you'll see how well it holds up. The 35L wins but it's a $100 or less lens vs a $1,000 lens. All taken with a 5D, centre and edge 100% crops.
