p.1 #1 · My D70 is DEAD

Yup... it died. I'm taking it to the repair center on Monday.

It won't turn on. Not with batteries, not with AC adapter... the green light on the back just flashes. When I push the menu button it flashes on but won't stay up. The -E- doesn't even show up.

I've pushed the "reset" button at the bottom of the camera and that did nothing too...

I did that shutter count program on a recent image and the number it came back with was

1944493176

Could that be right?? It's only 1.5 years old and it's my backup body at that. The shutter has already been replaced once. I shoot a lot... my studio is very busy... did I perhaps really kill it this time?

So... now I'm at the point where I don't know what to do... D200? or Fuji S3?

I guess you just experienced the very well known green light syndrome. You shouldn't worry too much, Nikon repairs it for free, it seems to be a design problem (PCB/connectors) in the first series of cameras produced. More info to be found on Nikon site/tech support.
