I have the day off today, but I woke up at my usual time. So, I thought I would put the 55/3.5 Micro on my Zfc and take a few close-ups of one of my guitars. Unfortunately for my wife, I have two expensive hobbies...photography and guitars. This is my latest acquisition, an Alvarez Masterworks MF60OM. Every guitar has its own personality and I am completely enamored with this one. It is truly a joy to play.
That is, indeed, a beautiful Alvarez, Scott! I have the same two expensive hobbies that you have. I help my wife gain "perspective" ( ) on it by mentioning how much worse it would be if I collected art, cars, or jewelry, or if I collected really expensive vintage or handcrafted instruments, or if I collected at the same pace as Joe Bonamassa does.
It appears that your guitars are all flattop acoustics. Three of mine are flattops, two are resonators, one is an archtop, and one looks like a natural wood solid body electric, but actually has two chambers in it along with nylon strings, so it sounds pretty good acoustically, and it sounds fairly acoustic when plugged into an amp. I mostly play fingerstyle blues and ragtime. What do you like to play?
Here are some images of my archtop, which is a gorgeous Eastman with handcarved, solid maple top, back and sides. All of these were taken with my Ai'd Micro-Nikkor 55 f/3.5 PC on my trusty old D800E.
Eastman archtop: tiger maple back
Eastman archtop: maple neck (with leather strap)
Eastman archtop: sunburst finished maple top and ebony tailpiece (rose decal added by me)
Eastman archtop: partial, angled front view
