pretty photos, as always. I especially liked the yellow flower shot with the contrax 85 f2 recently over on the FE thread.
The fly by the wire is horrible (or I thought it was on my rx1). I loved the Sonnar on the rx1, but I want to try something new. I am interested in the ZF's IQ, but it's another 200g on top of the FE/CY, so that's out for me.
I don't expect either to be well balanced on the a7 series, ha.
Why do you think the CY 35 1.4 is the best portrait lens? And I see why you're having a hard time selling it then
And I should ad, I find the MFD on the FE pretty attractive...

thanks.
what is the MFD on the FE? the c/y seems close enough at .3m.
i think it's the best portrait lens because i think it's the best 35mm for portraits and being more of a fan of environmental portraits, i think 35mm is the best focal length for portraits. what makes it great it the combination of zeiss pop and color with the perfect amount of glow and gentle focus fall off. the subject pops while the SA makes the skin look radiant. everything is just perfectly balanced imo. this turns out to be very nice for flowers as well. the bokeh is smooth in the center, but quite harsh towards the edges with noticeable spherochromatism. at near distance this matters very little and things typically look silky smooth. basically though, it's one of those lenses where snapshots just consistently come out looking great despite little thought or effort on my part.
here's two portraits taken spontaneously in crappy light:

you should really look at anden's shots though, his are much nicer than mine.
