I know this lens has been beaten to death on every forum on earth, but B&H just posted this new page with more information about this amazing piece of glass...

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/find/newsLetter/Mother-of-All-L-Lenses.jsp

Enjoy - and please don't throw things at me for posting this...

holy crap, lol, I like the pictures they show from it.

"For what it's worth, if you couple this lens to a Rebel XTi or EOS 40D you end up with the 35mm-equivalent of 1920/5.6, a 2688/8 with a 1.4x extender, and a 3840/11 with a 2x extender. If you need to focus any tighter to your subject you'll have to hop a plane and fly there."

hahah that made me laugh

At least now I've seen some pictures from it, and they look quite okay for me, FOR A ONE THOUSAND TWOHUNDRED millimetre lens!

Would make a fine 'walk around lens'.

My favorite is still the features tab on their product listing for this lens. "Pack mule not included."

As if the nearly 100,000$ price tag didn't make you pass out, you would be paying 7,300+ in tax if you live in NY, and 500+ for shipping, and thats if you live within the same 40 mile distance from NYC like I do.

This should boost the sales for RRS pano equipment. Who dares calling RRS on the phone so as to ask them what A/S plate to buy ?

The best ad I have seen so far for the lens!

I might just buy a ticket for EuroMillions on Friday now, 93 million quid, I might be generous and lend the lens to a few people, shipped on my private jet of course!

This must be Canon's implementation of a gravitational lens

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravitational_lensing
http://www.ccmr.cornell.edu/education/ask/index.html?quid=928

Anyway, it's a prime, so keep in mind: zoom with your feet ...
and what comes in handy with the 1200's hood: a 2.8/300 and the rest of my lens kit fit in the hood of this one. Really this is more than 1200 mm of EOSfun

I want it. I can't have it!

If the 1D3 looks like a lens cap with handlebars, I am reluctant to learn what my 5D would resemble on the back of that wonderful monster!

"Priceless"

Mastercards next ad perhaps?

I'll get the Sigzilla 500 f/2.8 and the extender instead.

Eh. I'd rather have the new 800 f/5.6 IS - and I will!
